It’s quite simple – use New-LocalUser a few parameters, some random password that I don’t need to save as LAPS will overwrite it. While that road is blocked, I still need to get my user-created somehow. That is until you find out it’s actually not possible anymore due to password encryption key being available in the wild, which made Microsoft block that Group Policy Preference. Go to Group Policies, create a new user, add it to an administrators group, and then follow standard steps to implement LAPS. Recently I got a simple task to implement LAPS for the newly created local user instead of using the built-in local administrator account. However, Testimo also provides an easy way to pick the tests you want. The word quick is not a good description because if your Forest\Domain has multiple DCs, this is going to take a while. You can run it without any parameters, which will trigger a full scan and provide you a “quick” overview of potential problems. Why mentioning it now? When you install Testimo, you get a single command called Invoke-Testimo. Testimo is heavy work in progress, and I keep on adding more tests and enhancements. It works on defaults that I've defined, but everyone can modify settings in configuration files to match their environment needs. In short, with just a single command, it's able to provide a health check of your entire Active Directory. ![]() It's not up to date with all the features it currently has, but it should give you an idea of what it is about.
